This years Murgatroyd T20 has drawn Glenrothes away at Meigle CC, which means Ryan Watson will return to his first Scottish club from late 1990's.

Here is a press release on behalf of Meigle Cricket Club:

The draw for Scotland’s national Twenty20 cricket competition has been carried out and it has thrown up a Tayside and Fife clash which sees Scotland’s leading international run scorer returning to his old stomping ground. The Murgatroyd T20 sees the Caledonia region winners contest the national finals day against the Borders, West region and East of Scotland champions. This years draw sees Meigle take on Glenrothes in the opening round. The tie sees Harare born Ryan Watson, who won 193 caps for Scotland after he qualified through residency in 2002, return to his first Scottish club, Meigle CC, where he was a free scoring club professional in the late 1990’s, winning a Three Counties Cup title in the process.

Glenrothes skipper Greig Hopcroft said “We are looking forward to the trip to Meigle in the Murgatroyd T20. It’s a ground which I personally haven’t played on before but have heard lots of good reports. Ryan’s return to his first Scottish club gives the game another little edge and hopefully a sunny summer evening will provide for a good game of cricket.”

Hopcroft’s counterpart, Meigle skipper Iain Stewart is also looking forward to the clash “It is obviously nice to welcome back someone who was such great servant to the club like Ryan was in his time as professional back in the late 1990’s. Glens are a club that are doing a lot of good work off the park and have been successful on the park as well in recent times. I have a lot of respect for what they are doing as we are working hard on progressing our club in a similar vein, but we will be looking to make the most of home advantage and get through to the next round.’’

Meigle will host Glenrothes at Victory Park on Tuesday 7th May at 6.15pm. The winners of the tie go through to play host to 2010 Scottish Cup finalists Stirling County in the next round who play in the Premier Division of Cricket Scotland's national league set up.
