Glens win the Largo Sixes

Fantastic win, could not be more proud of everyone
- Qasim Ahmad, Captain

Following a last minute withdrawal by the Ship Inn, a Glenrothes team were delighted to step in to take their place at the Largo Sixes yesterday.

Group A saw Largo, Royal High Corstorphine and Morton battle it out and after one victory each it came down to sudden-death bowl-off which RHC won to take them through to the final.

Group B saw Glenrothes come up against a second Largo team along with Breadalbane.

Game 1: Glenrothes 81-3 v 25 all out Breadalbane

Ben and Qasim each scoring 10, Sufyan 20 and Mayank retiring 33 not out off the last ball. Excellent bowling by all in the second innings with Qasim taking three wickets in the last over to close off the win.

Game 2: Breadalbane 25-4 v Glenrothes 26-1

Muhammad with one wicket in the first over and Ben two in the second, saw Breadalbane 12-3 from which they couldn't recover. Qasim out for 10 but Muhammad 10* saw the team home.

With the chicken tikka pizza and chips (with napkins of course) just delivered for them coming off the pitch, it was unfortunately straight into the final versus Royal High Corstorphine.

Final: Glenrothes 70-1 v 57-3 Royal High Corstorphine.

A relatively slow start for Sufyan with ten scoring shots without hitting a boundary, before a four (counting for 6 runs) and a six (counting for 10 runs) saw him retire 32*. Muhammad battled well beside him for 15, before a late 6 (for 10) by Mayank helped boost the score to 70 after the 5 overs.

A well-poised battle saw RHC at 24 without loss from two overs, but two big moments in the third over swung the game Glens way - Sufyan bowling one opener for 3 and the other opener was to retire 32* two balls later with a big six (counting 10), RHC 38 for 1 from 3. A wicket for 10 runs to Mayank left Qasim the last over to defend 23 runs - no boundaries and a direct run-out from long-on to Mayank won the game and allowed the players to come off and scoff their cold pizza!

Well done to the Glenrothes team - not bad for a last minute invite and three under 18 players! Thanks to Largo for reaching out to us and hosting a great day.
