Geoffrey Sampson was inducted to the Glenrothes Cricket Club "Hall of Fame" in 2013.
Geoffrey joined Glenrothes Cricket Club in 1965 and with the exception of a single season at Dunnikier has been an ever present around the club.
A genuine all rounder who has been known to bat, bowl and keep wicket at all levels for the club. He is currently number 5 in the all-time GCC batting list with 7349 runs and number 6 in the bowling list with 218 wickets. He also features in the club centurion list!
Geoff made a playing comeback in 2013 to help the new 3rd and 4th XI, with a keenness to pass on his wealth of knowledge and experience to the youngsters he now shares the field with. He has also introduced his son Michael Sampson to the club who is following in his dads footsteps as a fine cricketer and who also features on the club centurion list.
He has held several administrative positions including Club President 5 times, Club Captain 5 times and was Treasurer for 10 years! An excellent administrator and diplomat who likes to get involved in whatever he turns his hand too; including Rotary Club Presidency and Golf Club Captaincy.
Every committee Geoff worked with was the "best he had ever been on" and he regularly gives that famous line to justify regular time away from the club; "I've not had a holiday in 8 years".
